Masking in Hospitals, Long Term Care Homes, and Health Centers

Preamble

Whereas: Residents with Long COVID, chronic health conditions, the immunocompromised, the elderly, and other medically vulnerable people are at greater risk of COVID-19 and its long-term consequences;

Whereas: These residents access health services regularly;

Whereas: Everyone deserves safe access to medical services as human beings and fellow Saskatchewan residents;

Whereas: Inadequate mask protocols contribute to severe understaffing and virus spread;

Whereas: Masking in public spaces and health centers has proven to reduce transmission of a wide range of infectious diseases, some of which significantly impact quality and length of life.

Direction

Be It Resolved That: A Saskatchewan Progress Party government will pass legislation requiring masking by staff in all health centers.

Be It Further Resolved That: A Saskatchewan Progress Party government will pass legislation requiring masking by visitors in all health centers.

Be It Further Resolved That: These measures remain in effect until Saskatchewan’s excess death rate drops below pre-2020 rates for a period of 3 years.
