REGINA, SK – The petition to hold a plebiscite to create an independent review to look at the Scott Moe government’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, launched by Saskatchewan Liberal Leader Jeff Walters on April 19th, has started strong.
“In less than a week, we already have 5153 signatures”, stated Walters. “Clearly, the public wants this. We have just gotten started and we are in it for the long haul.”
The petition launched by Walters is a result of the Moe government’s refusal to hold an independent review on how they have managed the province’s pandemic response to date. Saskatchewan has some of the worst pandemic outcomes of any province. Yet, the provincial government has reduced access to even basic information about what is now being called ‘the sixth wave’ of COVID-19.
“This could all end now if the Premier initiates a review on his own. Partisanship aside, it is the right thing to do for the people of Saskatchewan – strategically, practically, and morally.”
